Dodge Ram Integrated Brake Controller

Yes, I have a heavy electric EVIC setting. Seems like you can scroll through the menu to get it. I wonder if it is a difference between a 2500 and 3500? I don't know.

Possible you need to adjust brakes on trailer ?

How heavy is your trailer?
Just to clarify you dont want brakes to lock up,that provides no braking by locking up.
Should be adjusted to be just before locking up.
I have integrated controller on my ford 6.7 with setting at 10.I will not lock up brakes either.Fiver weighs 14-15 k loaded.But I by no means feel as though im out of control.But Im no help with the settings in your dodge as far as l or h electric goes.

Obviously this is very dependent on your rv weight.

I was not able to get much braking out of my last 5th wheel (36 ft 12,500 lbs). An RV shop tried everything- changed brake pads, adjusted them, replace wiring, talked with axle company, etc. Nothing we did would make them very good. I had no problem getting my horse trailer wheels to drag if I wanted them too, so I knew it wasn't the controller.

I traded campers and I can get these to drag if I want to. As a matter of fact, I came up on a speed bump a while back that I did not see and had to brake hard. I left a blue cloud of smoke when the 6 trailer tires locked up (42 ft 18,500 lbs). It's nice to know that I can drag them if needed, but would rather they brake hard without. Anyway, my point is, some trailers may not be capable of locking up.

PS, I don't think my 2010 Dodge IBC has a heavy and light trailer setting. They must have changed something since 2010.

I have a 2012 Ram 3500 and I have mine set to "Heavy Electric". Just scroll through the settings to find it. I'm sure it is there. The difference between Light and Heavy is not huge, but there is a difference.

We have a 2012 Dodge dually and have ours set on heavy electric and the brake controller on 3.0. We also have hydraulic brakes on the 5th wheel. Our RV weighs around 17k lbs.

The RAM factory brake controller is marginal thru 2011 MY. The 12 and newer are great controllers with heavy/light electric and heavy/light hydraulic settings.

I changed to a MaxBrake on my 11.

Thanks for the input. My trailer is a little over 12K and the trailer brakes will stop the trailer but they just won't lock up when I try to adjust the controller as the truck manual suggests. I'm going to call Northwood the manufacturer of the trailer and talk to them about the trailer brakes.
Also.....I'm beginning to think the Ram 2500 does not have the controller with the "heavy electric" setting, although the manual reads like it does. I've scrolled through everything and can't find it. I guess I'll call Ram too.
