Your predator gen is fine.
As with all generators you have two windings. Using the 120/240 outlet your a/c is pulling from one side of the generator. One winding is 1600 watts and the other is 1600 watts. That is why it trips. Not enough watts..
When you plug into that gen 1600 watts @ 120 supply one side of your TT panel and 1600 watts on the other side...
You need a bigger generator...
And this defines my position.
