It should run one A/C unit without problem. However, some of the cheaper units let the voltage fall off as the unit heats up with run time. If the voltage drops, the A/C will draw more amps trying to keep up. It is possible that there is a balance point where the voltage is just high enough to keep the protector from kicking out, but the draw is enough to open the breaker.
Plug an multimeter set on AC volts into one of the 120V outlets and watch the output as the unit runs. Plan to spend some time watching. You can possibly advance the RPM slightly to keep the voltage up.
Actually the OP did ask about other people's generators when he said he wondered if the two honda 2000's would run his ac. In fact I bet he appreciates most of the opinions he has gotten so far.
So here's my two cents. I run my 15k AC on my HONDA eu3000. I also have to leave it off eco mode and cannot run the micro with the AC. Been working great for years.
