Only because of portability, and maybe fuel economy. If portability is not important, then I agree that two units doesn't make sense. Of course you might choose to just run one when all you want to do is charge batteries.
By the way, RV's are only 110/120 volt. None are 240 volt.

You can't dogbone the output from a 240 volt generator. The legs are out of phase and it will blow the breaker. If you're lucky.
Yeah, lots of options with bigger generators if you choose to go that way. I noticed the first Champion that you linked to was not rated for sound pressure by the manufacturer. Gee, I wonder why? Champion is a good name though, and make a quality product suitable for RV use. Maybe not that particular one.
