Does trailer connector need to be in pick up box

Getting a new f250. On my past two trucks, I have had a 7 pin connector inside the pick up truck box. The 5th wheel trailer I now have has the Reese Revolution hitch (similar to the Sidewinder). I ...

You can purchase an in bed plug kit. No wire splicing, just unplug the wire that goes to the factory plug and install the new plug with the factory plug. The only real modification that is needed is cutting the hole in the inside of the bed for the new plug. Very easy and quick.
