Does trailer connector need to be in pick up box

Getting a new f250. On my past two trucks, I have had a 7 pin connector inside the pick up truck box. The 5th wheel trailer I now have has the Reese Revolution hitch (similar to the Sidewinder). I ...

This is how I do mine. It keeps all the extra cord in the bed of the truck and behind the hitch. The rope is poly material. The bed end is hooked to one of the chain attachment points on my goose neck hitch. The snaps make it easy to connect and disconnect. The ring on the cable is held in place with a cable tie.
