Thanks for point that out. To be clear, I after I hitched up I checked and the jaws looked good. My wife checked and the jaws looked good. I conduced the hitch check...trailer brakes on, full bias. Then I drove for about 25ft and conducted the brake test with my controller. The brakes locked, pulled the hitch and all seemed well. Then detachment. After I re-hitched and hot the truck home, I saw the half inch gap. After studying the thing all afternoon, the spring mechanism seems loose, but well greased from my maintenance last week. The hitch has a 1/2 gap and the jaws will not make contact.
