I’ve not pulled my current camper with the DRW, but my previous camper was a 29’ Keystone and I pulled it with a 2500 w/the 6.5, and I pulled the Keystone with my DRW. There was noticeable difference between the 2500 SRW and the 3500 DRW. Without even getting to the pulling aspect, the 3500 DRW tracked better, was more stable at highway speeds, especially when being passed by trucks, and was heads above when handling switchbacks and mountain roads.
I have more truck than I need with my current camper, but I can’t see having a SRW as long as we have a camper of length and weight. My DRW is not a daily driver, and it would be a sled in ice and snow. It does fit in the garage, and I we drive it in town when we’re on the road. We did get some looks while driving in downtown Hollywood this summer, but you just go easy and really watch out for others.
This is my first DRW and I enjoy it, towing or not.
