Just because I like hearing everyone toting there duallies.......I must say, The F-350 axle/differential on my SRW is the same as on the Ford F350 DRW. The leaf springs are the same. Here lies the difference......Budd Rims and the hubs that the Budd rims attach to. The F-350 dually also, has 4 tires rated at 3400lbs/tire, you do the math.
Like my SRW truck, the DRW Ford truck tires can handle far more weight than what the leaf springs or axle are rated for.
I will add that I own an F-550 Ford with 19.5 tires and has a GVWR 19,500. If I had 17.5 tires on it than the GVWR would be 17,500. Again, tires make a difference.
If, I ever get pulled over and get a citation for being overloaded with my camper trailer hitched to my SRW F-350. I will then consider hitching my F-550 to my camper.
Tires make a difference IF they aren't used in excess of one's RAWR to make up for the difference...it is what it is...The math is simple, the logic, even simpler.
With the Ram, the 3500 SRW truck has 7,000# rated rear axle...The RAM 3500Dually has 9750# rated axle...again, very simplistic math, and an obvious difference.
don't much care about the ratings of a 450/4500 and up, we're talking about 1 ton SRW and 1 ton DRW trucks on this thread....
Never heard of ANYONE EVER being pulled over for towing too heavy,...a ridiculous scenario...don't recollect it being talked about on this thread....silly....
"EVERYONE touting their dually's":h..you been following the same thread everyone else has?? We were talking about a "possible" difference in stability in the towing experience between a SRW truck and a DRW truck...nothing about not being able to handle the weight, nothing about being unsafe, nothing about towing over the limits, but I guess if one has to make stuff up to post.....then have at it.....
