Duravis R250 or M895?

Hi Team,

Getting ready to replace the tires on my 5th wheel.

Looking at both of these tires. They are both fully steel encased. Both seem like Great (and very similar) tires. Do you all see any pros/cons to either?

The Legendary Duravis R250

Bridgestone Duravis M895

The "Stone Rejector" Design of the M895 is interesting. As many of the campgrounds we haul our 5th wheel are gravel roads/sites.

Thanks in advance for your inputs and thoughts...

  • The R250 tread is better suited for a free rolling position and makes a excellent trailer tire.

The M895 has more of a drive axle tread but also makes a excellent tire for trailer use and may be a better choice for use on icy/snow packed roads...if your so inclined to tow in the winter.

The LT245/75-16 E has 3042 lbs of capacity.

The LT225/75-16 E has 2680 lbs of capacity.
  • Cost is kinda interesting....for about $$215 a tire I can get either

    245/75 R16 M895
    or
    225/75 R16 R250

Other than these two specific tires/sizes, the prices are about $60 more a tire for all other sizes in each type.

Both sizes should work well on my 5th wheel (a moderately light 28 foot model)

Inclined to go for the 245/75 R16 M895 ...unless the tread pattern of the R250 is better for a 5th wheel..
  • You choice. I think the M895's cost more. I ran ribs for 6.5 years and two years on R250's. Getting the best mileage I have ever gotten with the R250's on the trailer. 12.4k 5er.

Have never thought I needed tires with more traction. Chris
  • Well I can tell you I have the r250 version on my ford dually and they have been excellent. They are incredible quiet and have worn very well in the 2 years I've had them. They seem to have a very stiff sidewall which should help against sidewall breakdowns and blowouts. I dont think you could go wrong with either. good luck
