I drive that stretch of road often, both with and without my trailer. Since you are driving it in August, there are no worries. It's very scenic and safe, but just one lane in each direction most of the way. If you were traveling now, the snow and ice would make it tougher to navigate. Be sure to stop at Marias Pass. It's a rest stop with great trailer parking on the continental divide with interesting historical markers. There are usually trains driving by.
