I got ours with the intention of taking it out of the cabinet it came in and installing at that same location. After getting it, decided to just use as is. It's on wheels and fits right next to that cabinet. We love ours.

It should not be that difficult to install. I would plug it into the same receptacle as the TV uses. They do not require a vent, and have 0" clearance to all sides, so the heat is directed out the front vent, not to drift to the top or anything. It should be fairly cold on the sides while in use. At any rate, less than say the 105F ambient temps that can be in the RV in the summer time while in storage.

If you ever do decide to upgrade to 50 amp service, it should be really easy if you have it done this way. Have the installer put a 100 amp panel (must be rated over the 50 amp capacity) in the storage compartment in front, with a 30 amp line running to the factory panel, and 50 amp main circuit breaker and new cord about 30' long. Then run things like your fireplace and a couple of new circuits to high amperage things, such as the A/C and microwave. At that point, you will be able to run 'everything' without the need to worry about tripping your 30 amp breaker.

Even on 30 amps, I was able to live in 25F weather with hookups, and barely run the furnace. I had a second power cord to run one of my 1,500 watt heaters in my bedroom plugged directly into the power post. The other two heaters I kept on low heat most of the time.

I was on the fence when we ordered our unit with a FP, but now wouldn't ever want to be without one! It cuts way down on the propane usage and the ambience is great. Down to 35F we don't even run the furnace, just the FP.
