Okay, got it. As it turns out, it's an adapter plate. Removed it with my lug wrench, and now I can be pulled with regular hitch. So we're on our way to St George and that's where we'll spend this vacation. We'll try to get loaner car from dealer, or we will rent a car to explore the area. Making lemonade from lemons.
