Alot of people don't carry a slide stop adapter nor have they modified their capture plate and wedge for easy removale. They also don't know that the plate and wedge can be removed if they are bolted on instead welded on. If it is welded, your out of luck. That is a downside of that hitch.
NO "modification or fabrication" necessary!..:S
Or - removal of the capture plate..:R
SuperGlide makes a Conversion Adaptor which allows your trailer to be pulled by a NON Superglide hitch..:C
Takes about one minute to be "put in service" and ready to tow by a *NON* SG equipped tow vehicle.
SuperGlide "3336 Conversion Adapter"
Only drawback - it's about $150..:(
IMO ("jdog" is right) PR should make the "emergency" towing options *VERY* clear to folks who purchase their hitches -
as there are lots (and lots) of "newbies" out there as well as those who are not mechanically inclined.
"C.B" has made a nice / handy mod - with "only" his time involved.
Kinda like whether you make your own chocks or buy Rotos.
Your choice!.:@

That adapter would be a good investment for any tow company that has the occasion to tow 5'ers. $150 is pretty cheap investment for a business.
