I had 2 other trailers with the F/W fill on the door side. It was never an issue, and in a lot of PA State Parks I've been to there were hydrants on either side of the trails to the sites.
My new rig has no F/W fill, I either hook a hose up to the hydrant, turn 1 valve and fill the tank. or I open the siphon valve, open the F/W tank fill valve, and close the outlet valve to the tank, and it sucks in the water from a tank. Initially it was a PITA, but with no easy open fill, it keeps the F/W tank "secure".
Also if ever at a potable water station that had a hose, I still unhooked theirs and used mine as for the most part I know where my hose has been :R
