I need to repair my 10 year old Fifth Wheel roof and saw an ad for SuperFlex Roof Coating from Camping World. Is this a practical fix?
Depends on what the repair job is.
A rip or tear in the fabric ??
Removing old caulk and adding new caulk ??
Is the old fabric stained black and you want it back to a white ??
Is the roof leaking in one spot ??
All of the above ??
Makes a difference in how the repair can be best fixed.
And keep in mind if you may sell the unit don't add anything up there that would kill the resale value. - WTP-GCExplorerThe question is whether or not your roof requires "repair" or "maintenance". The product mentioned by the OP is intended for maintenance.
- DanNJaniceExplorerThere is a guy over on the Jayco forum that just had his entire roof spray coated. He had it done by Flex Armor, I think. They have a shop in Florida if I remember correctly. He seems real happy with their work.
Here is the link:
Linky - wrgrs50sExplorerHow long is the warranty on superflex? It may only be good for a short term fix.
- mtofell1ExplorerI had a repair done once and also know quite a bit about these roofs from my work. I'd never attempt a repair myself. The guy that fixed mine talked to me a lot about them and said the key to a good fix is surface prep, using the right materials (glues, bonding agents, etc.) and just knowing what you are doing.
I do Home Inspections for work and several times have seen installations fail by the materials peeling up at joints and overlaps. My fix really wasn't that expensive either.
