Ever seen the door in the slide?

We saw this door in the slide at Tampa for the first time and then the website we love to follow did a little feature on it today in their video. Link to video. Thought it was unique enough to share here.

Anyone on here have the door in the slide? I just don't see how that can be a good idea. The park we are at now that would not work you would be stepping out into a tree. What I do want is their stairs for my regular door. Very sturdy looking. Maybe they could adapt it to slide into rv instead of folding against the wall.

Just the amount of steps to get inside is a deterrent for the older RVer's and those with some disabilities. Far too steep and for someone like my mother-in-law who even had trouble with the steps inside leading to the bedroom which was only 2 steps I know she wouldn't like this idea.

It looks to me like the rise between the steps is significant. I'm guessing like 9" or more. Anything over 7" is a killer for someone with bad knees. Must agree with okiejoe this probably will not set well with elderly RV'ers.

  • Just because they can doesn't make it a good idea.
  • Some Forest Service campgrounds I camp at, wouldn't have a wide enough pad to accommodate slides both sides of the RV plus the need for a landing area for the steps.

  • Excel Winslow 37SDM and 37SDF currently have the door in the slide.
  • Remember the RV's with the porches that were part of the slide out and the roof top lounge models/ They didn't make it either and they were billed as the next big thing.
