By all accounts, the RV industry is booming again. Why did this manufacturer fail now, as opposed to several years ago when the industry was in a slump ?
It seems like there's a bit more to this story. Or what am I missing ?
My other question is this - while everyone talks about the lack of quality in the RV industry, why is it that the builders who are going under are the ones who apparently built the best rigs ?
There's an old saying that the enemy of 'Good Enough' is 'Perfection'. Is that what is going on here ? Are the rigs built by Thor and the others, 'good enough' ?
Apparently, no matter what we say here about really wanting a quality product, we are satisfied with the rigs being built, and not willing to pay the extra surcharge for a quality-built product.

Through the end of last year, I was in the luxury goods business and, despite having many filthy rich customers, they simply stopped buying or turned to the pre-owned market. We had a few customers who had targeted specific pieces, but these were people who were buying on a fairly regular basis before 2008. The =smart= ones, who had cash to spend, waited until 2009/10 and snapped up some just absolutely smoking deals that have, or will, make them beaucoup bucks over the next few years. That being said, even the wealthy moved their sights down from the truly elite brands to lesser brands because they could get more for their money with not a lot of sacrifice in quality. No matter what the Pretender in the White House says, our economy is NOT all that robust.
