I believe there is a lot of truth to this. The market for high end units is limited, most don't have the disposal income for such a purchase and if they do they tend to hold on to them.
If there were a major market Teton, Travel Supreme, Alpine, Nuwa, Numar, Holiday Rambler, Carriage, Excel would still be in business. Even DRV was sold.
Income has not increased for the middle class while medical and education have skyrocketed. My opinion but I think people have lowered expatiation.
