Short version of my 'heater' story: woke up in the middle of the night freezing - furnace blowing cold. Enough juice to blow cold air but not light the burner not start the generator. Went out to TV and ran it for 30 minutes - enough juice to start the generator. Furnace started right up. Ran the genny for an hour. Shut everything down and went back to bed.

In the morning I said to DW "I hope all that nonsense last night didn't disturb you too much". She said "What disturbance?"

I bought a second deep cycle battery the next day.

The jumper box I've used more then once helping out other campers. My buddy's $30000 RV house batteries went completely dead he used my little jumper box to keep his rig frig and water pump and other utilities running for the night till we figured out the issues the next day.



Also it has and air pump for bicycles tires dirt bike flats and sources to charge iPads and smart phone as well .

I used it to jump numerous vehicles including quads and KTM with low battery voltage .

This is how I felt too, my rig is the same age. However there have been some updates, and now dectors have a end of of life warning. While it might work after 10 years its possible its not. I opted to get a new one.

I think I'll replace mine this week, going to be cold this weekend at Charlies Place.

Mine have never gone dead running the furnace and reading lights + television. Go out in the yard and turn stuff on like you were at the CG. That's the easy test. You can always hook your TV up and recharge when you are out somewhere.You don't need a jumper box IMHO because my neighbor has had one for 10 years and it is still in the box.

HMMM, my trailer is a 2007 and detector is original, no problems and it has gone off. I've had more problems with it when the 12v is low, it trips and then you not only don't have 12v, you don't have gas for heat, cooking, fridge. GOTTA HAVE 12V!

Not that I recommend this for everyone, but I simply installed a cutoff switch. Now when it shrieks, I shut it down.

Problem is that I understand the safety feature and would use it if it worked, but so far it's been the detector that "cried wolf".

If it were me i'd replace the detector. We lost a racer a few years ago to CO poisoning while sleeping in an enclosed trailer with a propane heater and no CO detector. Granted different scenario but it really hit home.
