I go to the So Cal desert a lot, and yes 40 degrees at night, even with blankets can be chilly. I like others don't like the noise of the fan on the furnace. I set my thermo to 60 degrees or a little lower at night. When I wake up in the morning, I turn on the generator, turn up the thermo to 65 degrees to warm up the trailer, open the blinds to let the sun in, turn on the coffee. Two or less hours later turn off the generator. The solar panels fill in the charge the rest of the day. I have Four 6-volt deep cycle, now going into their 3rd year (have to keep the water filled in them. Keep them charged all the time, which the solar does). My only problem with the heater has been draining the propane in the middle of the night.
