Yes they are. Put on one day and the next day 2 tires were down around 20 lbs. Called TST and they knew what the problem was. These newer sensors have an extend collar with a hex screw to lock them on.
With the rubber air valves, they do not screw on far enough. TST would send a different type or said I could grind down the collars so the sensors went on far enough, which is what I did and they are fine now.
The sensor was still attached and the valve fine. That tire just exploded.
We also had the TST system and a tire blew. Hmmm, I think we had the rubber valve stems, but not sure. We replaced our tires all the way around and now have metal valve stems. I'll have to talk to DH about this. With that TST system, I had just checked the monitor and all was well with pressure and temp. Within 5 minutes, could've been sooner, a tire blew. No warning from the system. Many have said that a sudden loss of pressure such as hitting something could've been the cause and why the TST didn't go off.
