So, this maybe an "FW too far." I am enamored of the F150 ecoboost. 11,000 pound towing capacity, and from what I've read, plenty of power. The tricky part would be hitch weight, under 1200 pounds....

The horror stories about diesel are largely about 6.0 and 6.4 Ford diesels.
The 2008 Duramax you mention for the same money as the 2011 Eco would be a far superior truck in every way for towing a trailer; especially a FW. It would also probably get the same or better mileage, both towing and empty. Of course, diesel does cost more than gas.
