F450 vs 350/3500
Shopping for new tow vehicle. Bought a bigger 5th wheel ( 2013 Redwood 38BR ). The current Ram 2500 diesel srw will get it there but is pretty maxed out. The ratings of the dually 350/3500's cert...

That is correct "IF" you go by the self imposed 14k GVWR. But here "IS" MUCH more payload available!
If I were to follow that rating I could NOT tow my 23k DRV. I am adding at least 6,600# to mine with two adults, pin weight, hitch and toolbox. I am at or under my axle ratings and under combined load rating.
Yes I am licensed to carry that amount.
If a person wants to stick to the 14k GVWR take around 1,000# off for bodies, hitch, tool box, and fuel form the 5,400# payload that is 4,400# available for pin weight. Figure 25% pin if you full time that lets you tow a 18k 5er.
My 18-19k 36' Mobile Suites did have a 4,500# pin.
How many people are at or under their 14k???
