Factory installed water filters

For those who have factory installed water filters w/ replaceable cartridges, has anyone ever had issues with the unit leaking/flooding the area in which it was installed? Have never heard of any issues, but just curious if anyone has.

  • Ours flooded the bay once, the first day I took it off and put the filter in. I didn't fully tighten the plexiglass container and when I turned on the water it came pouring out. I make sure its tight and slowly turn on the water to ensure a tight seal.
  • My factory filter is just inside the basement compartment. It has never leaked, but I spill a little, when changing out the filter, or when removing for winterizing.

My filter is right over an abs ledge, that is lower than the basement floor. The ledge has drain holes in each end, so someone thought this through, when placing the filter. Leaking water would run on the ground, if it ever leaked.

I did not have the =filter= leak, but the faucet Komfort used is =very= easy to bump on (uses a rotating valve instead of a lever-type) and will leak. We came out one morning to find a nice puddle in the middle of the kitchen floor. Even though we turn the water pump off a night (unless we need the loo), residual pressure forced water out. After 2 years, I simply shut it off and removed the filter altogether. We drink bottled water anyway... :-)

  • No problems with a 2005 MH so far. If it was winterized, was all of the water out of the filter with the wet filter removed? Have seen a few filter housings cracked during the winter due to some water left in them.

  • Ours had a "O" ring leak that nagged me for a while. Once we replaced the "O" ring no more problems.
