I have heard that pilots that fly with retractable landing gear have landed with gear up or will do so in the future.
Serious? I have to say no way to that one.
X2. I have over 8,000 hours flight time in retractable gear aircraft and have never landed gear up. In fact, I have known of only one pilot that did that. Now true, most of my time was in military aircraft. We lived religiously by our checklists. Even after we had them memorized and ingrained permanently into our brains.
So, this points out the value of having and using good checklists.
Never fail to use them, even when it is inconvenient!
Now to the OP: Sorry this happened and glad there was no serious damage done to either your equipment or to any one around you. As you can see, you are in good company. :)
