fifth wheel hitch installed 4 inches back

hi all
I just bought a new truck, f150 ecoboost super cab 6 foot box, and had a local mechanic install a fifth when I went to pick it up found that the guy installed it 4 inches back from where the directions called for,
does anyone have an idea if this is okay?
I do not want to find out when I have a situation that it is not good
thanks
pete

  • Not good. Will upset the balance and weight on trucks suspension. You will be left with extra holes in the truck bed but take it to a reliable rv dealer who will install it correctly.
  • What was 'mechanics' reason for placing it so far back?????

King pin should be over the center line of axle or slightly forward so weight is carried on rear axle with out affecting front axle weight.

Placing it behind rear axle could remove weight from front axle.
