We were planning to come over to the USA and buy a fifth wheel and tow vehicle. Then tour around the USA for 3 to 6 months. When finished our USA holiday, sell the tow vehicle and ship the fifth wheel back to Australia where we will continue touring. If we can get a fifth wheel with a rear or left hand door as well as a 110/240volt compliant electrical wiring. It is a lot easier just to change the appliances to meet Australian Standards. Rather than the drama of rewiring the whole fifth wheel. I hope this explains further our motives. Thanks for your insight, and have a great weekend. Cheers, Rod.,
From what I've read from some Down Under posters, the cost of converting it to Australian standards might be more than you want to spend. I think the import taxes might be fairly high, too. Look up user RobertRyan and send him a private message. He seems to be very knowledgeable about the ins and outs of FW conversions to OZ standards. It's not just doors and power; there's propane issues, too, I believe. Frankly, I think you might be money ahead to buy a nice used FW here, sell it before you leave and buy one when you get back home.

Yes there has been a quite few articles on the suitability of imported vehicle from NA or Europe in the Caravanners Forum. Search for importing fifth wheelers. Many Forum members will answer your questions. Forum is heavily used, so you do not have to wait long for a reply or information on 5th Wheelers
