Finally got my rig home ! ( updated pics )

Well just wanted to say thanks for all the replies I have had in my different threads over the last few weeks it has really helped. I picked up my new 5er a 1997 21 Foot Prowler 215B at my buddies today when it has been since I purchased it a few weeks ago. This is my first trailer. I did not have a hitch yet so he was kind enough to come with me and check the trailer over as he has owned allot of them.

This unit is spotless inside and the outside is more or less the same. Frame is perfect no rust or anything and 4 new rims and tires. Being new to the 5er field I never factored in my short 5.5 foot box on my truck when shopping as I did not realize it made a difference so I stressed over hitches for a while as putting in a $4500 Super Glide ( yes that's what they want for them here in Canada installed )was not in the budget. I found a used Reese 30051 from the same truck as mine and bought it dirt cheap. My mechanic installed it for me yesterday as he does a ton of these and I went to my buddies this afternoon and hooked up and did the turn tests. I get a 70-75% turn no issue with room to spare for day to day driving and with the hitch in the back position for tight spots I get a 90 to full jack knife turn no issue at all so I am good to go.

I am going to clean it up this weekend an set it all up and then I will post some better pics but here are a few for now !

  • I got the 5er to the cottage yesterday and set it up until we go away with it and gave it a good cleaning up. I am really happy with this purchase I cant believe the shape this unit is in for a 1997 in our climate.

    Here are a few pics

  • Looks really nice. I think you got a good deal. Congrats. Head down to Mexico this winter and enjoy the weather.
  • Good Luck you with your "New" Trailer. One question, how much clearance do you have from your bed rails to the trailer? It might just be the pictures but it looks a little close.

On my rig I have between 5 1/2 to 6 inches and it works out fine and I have had my trailer in some pretty scary places.

  • Congrats with you new fiver. You will enjoy it most when you are set up at a nice campground and just relaxing..
  • Looks good, nice choice. It should tow really well. Now there'll be one less person with a 1/2 ton posting about ill handling and WDH adjustment every time the wind picks up;)
  • Velly velly nice there Bigmoss!

Looks like the hitch worked out fine.
How is it on the road?
