I appreciate ALL opinions...stated respectfully. I am not looking for anyone to "make me legal"...I now know from all of the information I have received on this forum that legally, my truck is over the GVWR. I can't un-buy the truck or the camper so all I am looking for at this point is the POVs from those that have actual experience with configurations similar to mine. IMO...from what I see so far...my config is more common out there on the road than those doing it with duallies. Yes I know that does not make it right...it does mean though that there are a lot of people out there that have experience with a config similar to mine.
How many people out there with duallies that are within the limits of the truck have never exceeded the posted speed limit? Thought so. The speed limit is a law just like the GVWR is. When I think about the risk I am going to take with my config...I consider ALL factors. I am not overly concerned about the stopping power of the truck...Ford rates the truck to tow a 5th wheel weighing up to 15500 lbs. They would not have arrived at that number if the engineers felt the truck could not stop it. My 5th wheel is way under that. Everyone has to be responsible for whatever level of risk they except...I am just trying to become as informed as possible so I have a good grip on the level of risk I am taking.
