I had posted another thread last week about towing my 37' Grand Design Reflection with my F250...there were lots of posts with lots of good feedback. I was finally able to get my rig to the nearest CAT scale and below are the weights:
Steer axle - 4980 lbs.
Drive axle - 6140 lbs.
Trailer axle - 9320 lbs.
Gross weight - 20440 lbs.
Not as bad as I had expected...but...only had limited supplies in the camper, had a full tank of diesel and my brother was along as a passenger. Normally will have the wife with 2 kids along (in place of brother) with more supplies in the camper.
This is a quote from your other post.
The truck came with the 20" wheels on it. The tires are Michelin LT275/65R20 with a max load (single) of 3750 lbs. The door jamb sticker says the GAWR for the rear is 6100lbs. with those tires..
SO your trucks GVWR is 10,000 and you weigh in with trailer hitched up at 11,120# (OVER by 1,120#)
your RAWR is 6100#....weight with trailer on rear #6140# (Over by 40#)
tires 3750#/each-----6500# (under max load for tires by 360#)
SO you are over GVWR by 1120# and a little bit over RAWR (40#).
GVWR is one of ratings that can be fudged..........lots of DMVs allow for higher GVWR registration then what mfg. has for Gross.
RAWR......axle vendor will rate that same rear axle much higher
Are you over.......YES
Are you wrong......eh?
Are you are danger on the road........not from these numbers but don't know your driving record
Are you safe......depends on how you drive/speed
Will truck tow unstable.........doubt it
Will truck self-destruct.......not from those numbers. How you maintain truck???
Current model 2500s are NOT the old 2500s from just a few years ago and definitely not 3/4 ton trucks
My 2007 3500 SRW ratings are same/similar as your 2013 2500
I tow 14K 5vr....slightly over/at max ratings and it is a sweet combo/match. Stable/comfortable/effortlessly and never had a white knuckle event.
