Finance rates?

What's best forum to talk about RV financing? Trying to make sure my current offer from my dealer is competitive or not.

5.49% for 180 months on $50k, new Jayco 5er. Cheaper than my credit union, and I'm not a vet and don't have military in the family so can't join Navy FCU.

If this is not the forum to ask this question, then I apologize in advance...

15 year loan wouldn't you be upside down for a long time
Only if just the minimum is paid.
  • I seriously doubt you'll get helpful information from asking here, because today everything hinges on your credit score. What YOU will be able to get as a finance rate will differ from what THE JONESES will be able to get if you don't have the same credit score.

Well, I did get helpful info here. Wasn't aware of Essex/Bank of the West/GoodSam.

Assuming excellent credit, which we have, their published rates beat my dealer's.
  • My credit union will not do 15 months on a RV loan. Also the more you borrow the lower interest rate Bank of the West will give you. We took a 15 year note on our TT and paid it off in five years. DW lost her job and was out of work for six months. That low payment was a really nice.

I look at an RV as entertainment. Some people spend thousands of dollars to go on vacation for air fare, hotel rooms and restaurants for one week. Some people spend that money on an RV and go on many trips for years with friends and family. Life is short.

I don't understand why people feel the need to question other people's decision to do this. Especially when that wasn't what the question was to being with! I'm pretty sure the OP did the math and knows how long 180 months is even if the haven't fully calculated the interest yet.

This is the route my wife and I intend to take and i've even had some of my friends question that decision. Needless to say, they don't pay my bills so i don't expect them to understand my reasoning. I've been through unexpected job loss before so hats off to you guys for bouncing back and happy camping.

The OP asked to "talk about" the rate he was offered.

    They (posters) did..:S
