For those of you that have fireplaces do they really heat well?

Guess one had to have a really small 5er for the below dimension electric fireplace to take up "a lot of space":h
Dimensions (inches): 26 1/4 Width, 22 1/4 Height, 11 3/8 in Deep ( 12 7/8 in deep with grill)
I've got so much room in my 5er with all the cabinets I'm not using, enough room in the basement to overload my 5er...just don't see the "wasted space" issue, but again, guess one has to have a small 5er with the electric fireplace in it....I could see it replaced with 2 drawers and that's about it......This reasoning seems flawed, unless someone needs every ounce of space they can stick something into...
