First time 5th wheel owner

Picking up our new 5th wheel on Saturday from Pontiac RV. We are so excited to take it out on it's maiden voyage.

Camp close to home the first time or two. There are bound to be some "issues" that you don't want to discover on an extended trip far from home.

    Like in your driveway. Chris

Congratulations:) When you get it home check out what kind of tires are on the 5'vr. Generally, they come with cheap Chinese tires. Whatever is there do a check on their reliability. My 5'vr came with "Triangle" tires. Had never heard of them and not many other campers had either. Switched them to Good Year Wranglers which now have about 30,000 miles on them with trips to B.C. and the Yukon Terr., to Florida(from So Calif.) and many points between. Good Luck and have Fun.

Thanks for the tip. I'll do that

Have you pulled one yet? Get some practice around town. Watch the turns. We had a guy leave the dealership and an hour later came back with the entire right side smashed.

I've pulled a TT, gooseneck and used to drive a semi. I'm hoping I can handle this without to much trouble but time will tell. Looking forward to the experience.

Sadly, these units aren't built like cars where the defects are far and few between. Most problems are just cosmetic that you can live with until next time to the dealer, but some can be problematic.
  • Be flexible on this first outing and try every system. You'll love RVing.
