  • Good luck on your search. We just finished the same thing you are doing. We had been looking for a few months and went to the Hershey show last month. Take lots of notes as they will all start to run together. We ended up buying a KZ Durango Gold (not one of the models on your list) but we love it. We looked at the Grand design but they just didn't have a FL plan that we really liked. Plus we heard from multiple sources that since their buy out the quality had really took a nose dive. I can't say that's true but I have heard it from several different places. Have you looked at the Alliance Paradigm line? I was told at the Hershey show (again from a couple different places) that Alliance was one of the top quality units out there today. Good luck in your search and if you do buy a truck, pay no attention to the tow weights and capacities listed in any ads. Look at the actual door placards on the actual truck you are considering.
  • Be sure to take a big note pad to the RV show. I've seen so many units and different features at those shows and then I couldn't remember one from the other, a few days later! From my experience... don't buy the cheapest or the lightest. Craig
  • The F350 srw will handle just about any size TT.
If you go with a used F350 srw they come with about a dozen different gvwrs from 10000 lb up to 12400 lbs depending on year models.
Same with the F350 srw rawr at 6340 lbs....6780 lbs...7230 lbs.
Point being choose the F350 srw with the 12400 gvwr with a 7230 rawr.
  • Thanks. Definitely moving myself. Base in your comments amending weight
limit to reflect a 3/4 ton truck. That's the most I'll get. I like Ford so probably an F350. Cleaning towards a little bigger travel trailer that it could handle. 2022 rv/truck model should be about 2 yrs old when I buy it. Love your opinions. Thanks

    Welcome to the forum.
This forum or any general rv forum (not brand specific) is just like searching the net where your gonna' get input all over the place.
You may be better served by searching/asking question on brand specific forums.

Your looking at used units so that cheaper built unit you listed may be in better shape than the better built high end unit.

5th wheel trailer vs a travel trailer ?
Your choice there. I double tow at times so the 5th wheel trailer was my choice.

    And 28' up to 35' trailer ?
That can be a huge jump in the trailers weight especially with 5th wheel trailers. A 28' 5th wheel trailer/no slides may have a 7k-8k gross weight while some 35' 5th wheel trailers with multi slides can weigh 18000+ lbs.

Are you contracting the unit to be moved every 6 months or are you doing the towing ??
Moving a 35' TT or a heavy 5th wheel trailer can require a one ton drw diesel truck.
The 28' TT or 5th wheel trailer can easily be moved with a 3/4 ton diesel or big gas engine truck.
  • 3 or 4 years ago I would have said Reflection hands down. Considering they have been bought out, now I would choose the Durango Gold on your list.
  • Thanks. Looking to get probably an F350. Will definitely check out the 337. You guys rock. Going to my first RV show soon to walk some models. Grand Design and KZ are brands that I'm leaning toward
  • not to change your mind, but, I see you don't have the Grand Design 337 rls listed. It has a bit more storage space than the 303 and w/d option. We upgraded form the 303 to the 337 and haven't been disappointed at all. The other thing is that with both of my Grand Design fifth wheels, the manufacture has been great with us and even sent a couple small items after warranty had expired. Just my take, I am not endorsing any company. Good Luck.
  • KZ makes a god product but you are all over the spectrum as to tow weight. You can narrow any of your choices by deciding what tow vehicle you will be comfortable with or what you presently own, especially since you only plan to move every 6 months.
