First Tow with new to us Ram DRW

Well it wasn't far just 20 miles up 101, BUT the difference of night and day. The old 2001 Ram 2500 CTD with small chip and RV275's pulled well but with 3.55's and a manual 5 speed trans, wasn't quick off the line. I knew the 5er was back there but never a scary moment, just knew it was back there.
Now the new 2016 Ram 3500 DRW CTD, pulled on to 101 north, and stepped on the throttle and we were very soon at speed. Ride much smoother than the 2001. I was very pleased with how it looks hooked up, looks to be at most 1" or so pin high, something I will likely not worry about.
I will say as much as it never bothered me to row gears, and the 2001 had a BD 2-Low, for backing, our new sight required backing about 100' down a narrow road and then turning into an angled site with trees on both sides.

It looks great! I have the same issue with being slightly nose high but I quit worrying about it. With respect to backing, I have been backing trailers with manual transmissions for so long now I don't even think about it.

Beware though; we bought a bigger FW a year after buying the truck! :B

I don't see your old truck in your sig any longer; is she gone?

It is for sale, I hope to be down to a single truck soon. DW can drive a manual, but just didn't want to drive the 2001, now she takes off in the new truck without a thought.

  • Head down the 101 into California and you can if it floats.
  • For fun check the height from the ground to the top of bed at back corner, I am at 55" loaded or not with the Factory Rear Air. Visually your really close to that.

We will have to meet up when we head North so I can show your Wife what your new truck is capable of towing. :B

  • Never heard of a complaint about too much truck. Nice to to have ample tools.

Looks good, looks a "bit" nose high.

    Bed clearance at tailgate?

Simply not enough of a LOAD for that BEAST. :B

LOL! DW asked on our way up, I told her we are only towing at half capacity!!
I wanted to weigh at the scale just north of the old park, but there were three others there already.
Clearance between 5" to 6" about what I was running with the 2001.
