First Trip - Need advice on fresh water in AZ

Hi,

This will be my first trip in my new 5th wheel, aside from driving it down the hill from Prescott Valley. I'm heading up to the Woods Canyon Lake area to dry camp and didn't want to carry a full load of water up the hill if I don't have to.

Does anyone know if the Circle K in Star Valley still provides drinking water fill ups? I found a reference online but it was a post from several years ago. Does the dump station at Woods Canyon? I'm willing to pay a few bucks to avoid pulling that extra weight on my first trip.

I think I have everything else I need for the first trip. Thank God for Amazon and Wally world!

Thanks in advance and my apologies if I've posted in the wrong forum.

Ken
  • I always take water with but when refilling on the road it is never done near a dump station. I don't care if they have a separate tap for pottable fresh, someones touched it with poopie hands.
  • I think you can still fill at the fire department in Forest Lakes. Give them a call.
  • I've also had luck calling local chamber of commerce or the area Visitor Bureaus, if they know I'm staying in the area they are pretty willing to let me fill up.
  • A lot of RV parks and campgrounds will let you fill with fresh water and dump your tanks for $10.
  • fill the darn tank you,ll never notice the difference. you never no you might be stuck up there for weeks,

I strongly suggest that you get the answers "right from the horses mouth" and not rely on "guesses" on a forum like this.

Then.....like two other answers already......I like to know FOR SURE what the quality of the water is so I always fill at home when possible.

STUFF happens. Getting stuck short of your target destination with no water for a few days could be a MAJOR problem.
  • I never leave home without a full tank of fresh water and I never return home with grey or black tanks full, emptied and back flushed before I get home.
  • Surprised your research didn't show this one. There are others.

Moving around anywhere in the West without a full load of fresh water is...risky IMO.
