After my ST tire failure I went with G-rated LT tires.
Now I am confused why you think he would be too close on tire weight. At 12,000, you would have approx. 3,200 on the tongue leaving 8,800 on the axles.
He said his axle weight was over 11,000 and pin on top of that.
