First trip with Andersen Ultimate Hitch

The turn over ball was great, still is for equip/stock trailers, but we are talking FW trailers. While the decades old T/O ball, with Companion, still works for many, the puck system is better in every way. If you were in the FW hitch business, manufacturing them like Andersen, you would be wise to step up, to improve business/sales, and move forward into the future.

Something I had posted also. To remain serious in the FW hitch market, they need to make a hitch for the big 3 puck systems. Much stronger, better, easier fastening, than any single point attachment. I suppose using an adapter, you could make an Andersen for rails work with the pucks. Still more expense, more weight, and maybe allow more movement.

I bet if the big 3 had done it right and worked together on a single agreed upon universal ppuck system you would see more adoption.

Thats a good question, I talked to them a couple years ago about it. The reason I held off buying one until I did. I was told the were coming out with one to fit the pucks, when that time came ,and went and no hitch, I talked to them again ,and they had decide on not doing it for whatever reasons. Went ahead ,and bought the rail mount that fits my existing frame adapter.

IMO it would a great seller, but no go so far. They sell an awfully lot of them the way they are.

Well, there's a fleetingly small chance that you could get checked by a LEO RVer here in AZ and knows that the AUH is a type of ball hitch and, as such, requires chains. If the LEO's feeling generous, you'd get a "fixit ticket" which gives you, IIRC, 10 days to fix the problem or get a citation but doesn't mean you can't get stopped again. If not, then you get an "equipment" ticket and can't move the rig, except off the road, until it's resolved. Also, the chains can keep your trailer from coming into the cab of your truck if you get rear-ended.

I would never buy an Anderson Ultimate hitch but if for some reason I was using one I certainly wouldn't worry about safety chains. If in the 1 in ten million chance happens that the Anderson comes unhooked I would much rather have the trailer knock open my tailgate, drop to the ground and come to a half on its own rather than slam around on safety chains until it throws the tow vehicle out of control.

Look on Andersens website as I think they have an adapter thingy for those OEM pucks
