That's why I LOCK my handle closed.
Can you lock yours???
You already know the answer to that, no you can't padlock the Andersen hitch to prevent tampering or whatever it is you are concerned with. We all know you have five padlocks on your hitch to prevent a host of things you think can happen .
The point he made was he did not close his handle, got very lucky doing it . Has nothing to do with whether he can can add a padlock to it, he flat didn't push in ,and turn the handle to the locked position .
I never locked my conventional hitch ,nor am I concerned whether I can lock up the Andersen. My only concern is that the handle is pushed in, and locked closed on the Andersen, or my previous hitch the handle was closed ,and pinned. Its simple for me EVERY TIME I leave the truck, the hitch,, plug, etc etc. is checked. Can't tell you how much I saved on padlocks :)
