- BillB3857ExplorerI have the TraiAir. Before we put it on, I could watch the pinbox move up while the front cowl of the trailer was moving down when hitting rough road. All of that difference in direction was being absorbed by the frame of the trailer. With the TraiAir, the top of the TraiAir and the front cowl of the trailer move together. The lower half of the TraiAir moves with the truck and the top half moves with the trailer. Great invention, in my opinion. Would't want a 5er without one.
- lee_worsdellExplorerI have they flex air with shock and air bag. I forgot to put air in it and when I turned sharp the electrical box hit my box. Don't forget the air
- AllworthExplorer IIHave you looks at Air-Safe? Put the shocks down in the truck bed.
- jjjExplorerI have a fith airbourn on my trailer and was the same height as my 1621. Though others may think it is not as good as the flex, it does a very good job of damping those bumps. I also liked the bag and shock hidden inside and not sticking out front. I would not trade back to stock.
- hbillsmithExplorerJust a related comment. I was interested in the Flex Air but was concerned it might raise the front of my fifth wheel too far off level. My 2015 GMC 2500 with airbags already sits pretty high and I currently tow about 2" nose high. I can't go any lower to eliminate the 2" because I need the truck bed rail clearance.
So I contacted Flex Air to inquire if changing to their pinbox would raise the trailer and they were very helpful and said yes it would. Their design that adds airbag and shocks on the front gives a better ride but it does indeed raise the front end 2 or 3". In my case, I couldn't compensate by raising the pinbox and I didn't want to spend the money to have the trailer frame raised.
I am now considering the Reese Airborne whose design places the airbag and shock internal and either won't raise my nose or may in fact lower 1". I believe the Airborne would be better than my stock 1621 but probably is not as good as the larger Flex Air. By the way, best price I've seen on the Airborne is CARiD.com.
