Forest River RV Cedar Creek Silverback 29RW - feeback

I am not sure what your heard about quality and support but from our experience their support and quality are on par or a little above other brands. We are on our second Cedar Creek and have been very pleased with both. We had the first one ten years and this one is six years old. We only bought new because we wanted some things that were not available when we purchased our first.
The one thing that Cedar Creek has that no one else has, to my knowledge, is Orvan Fry of Amish RV. Orvan worked for Cedar Creek for 15+ years and then opened his own repair shop and works only on Cedar Creeks. He finds and repairs things that other dealer shops were not even aware of. I have heard that some folks actually pick up a new unit and take it to Orvan for his inspection and to repair if needed before they even take it home.
Now all that being said, the Silver Back's specs that you are considering are nearly identical to our CC 30RL. We pull with a 250 HD Chevy Duramax and have no issues. We are very close to our limits on pin weight and GVWR. We don't carry every thing but the kitchen sink but do have everything we need for extended trips. I hope this helps.

We too are on our 2nd Cedar Creek (also kept first one 10 years). We took our brand new 2019 unit straight to Orvan from the dealership....and he found and made some adjustments & repairs now for future issues that might arise. He was fantastic...showed us a few tricks.

WE pulled our 2009 32WRL Silverback, 14K GVW, with our 2008 GMC 2500 D/A. We were well over the trucks GVWR - I had added airbags when I bought the trailer and after about 5 years I added wider wheels and tires to increase that capacity. At times the trailer was pushing the truck - but I never had that "white Knuckle" feeling. I could feel some improvement when I added the wider tire/wheel combo. The truck had no problems stopping the trailer.

Our current CC Hathaway is much heavier (GVW is 16.3K), hence we have a 2017 GMC Dually D/A. Big improvement as far as stability goes. I also added disk brakes on this trailer....so the trailer can stop the truck.

You will not regret getting a F350, for towing a rv with around 3k pin weight.

Nothing wrong with Cedar Creek they assemble the same poorly built RV's just like everyone else....LOL.
Stick with the F 350 search. Do not get a F 250 to use for towing a 5th wheel

If looking at new trucks, 350 is the obvious choice, but I think you know that. If looking used, you find a really nice 250, I'd go for it, if it has the upgraded 18" tires/wheels, which will handle same load as 350. My 250 has HD service suspension (350). Many 2011 and newer 250 have the camper pkg (350 suspension) which would work for you. If no added pkgs, you could upgrade suspension, by means of your choice, as long as the tires/wheels can handle the load.

Can't help on FR products from experience, but I believe the CC is at least one of their upper end builds, if there is such a thing.

1st----go with the 350. 2nd----we had a '06 CC Silverback and like others, owned it for 12 years and really no issues. Had a tech at local dealer tell me few years after we bought it that it was a better built coach than new ones. Before getting coach in sig, we were considering another CC, but just couldn't find the floorpan we liked.CC use to at the top in terms of customer service, but don't know about now. Likewise, it's been a toss up as to which brand was FR top dog (CC or Cardinal). For the Silverback we had, towed it until '15 w/ a '03 F250, 6.0,4x4,cc,sb and did very well. Over on everything, but at time of truck purchase ('03) I thought the 250 would be it. Well "it" was til '15 when we upgraded to a 350 6.7,cc,4x4,sb, saw. 2 & 3 years later respectively, upgraded coach and truck, so we are all set for whatever. But go w/ the 350 at least.

2350 is your dry pin weight.

Loaded you might be up to or close to 3000

I wouldn't tow a 14K 5er with a 3/4 ton. I'd stick to finding a 1 ton personally.

The F350's are really difficult to find. I did see a 2019 F250 6.7 leftover on a lot today in my price range. I ran the calculations on the capacity and while very close it looks like that truck is within capacity for that FW. Unless I am missing something. Granted it cuts very close, I did run max numbers for the FW and truck occupants, but it's within parameters. I am sure a 350 offers more capacity but I was surprised that it's not that much more. The calcs are far more complex than when I calculated towing a car behind our motorhome. And the trailer and truck sales folks aren't much help. Of course they have an agenda or just plain don't know.

I’m with the others only get a 3500 or 350 rated truck. I’m a fan of Forest River. I’ve had 5 FR products since 1988. They have predictable quality. My Creek is very nice and they also have MORE than your dealer if needed.
