Forest River Sierra / Open Range - quad bunks??

Open Range are certainly getting a good rap on this thread, I really liked the floor plans & look of these. Pitty for me who wants to bring one back to Australia because its only 100" (2.5metres) wide. Thats our absolute max inc. awning, door handles etc. Nothing is allowed to exceed 2.5.

We have had our Open Range 345RLS for two years and have had no serious issues. I will certainly consider another one when it comes time to replace this one. It is important to remember that Open Range is an independant manufacturer, and positive current owners opinions are an incredibly cost effective advertising program. I had a Sierra. The thing had problems and the dealer was******and the factory wouldn't even consider doing anything. The roof had started to leak and water was coming down through a light fixture at the back of the unit It wasn't long after this that I got rid of the Sierra and went to an Open Range. Both rigs were the same length and the OR is about 2000# lighter just from the slide mechanics. I am in my 5th year with the OR and wouldn't think twice about getting another. We did have a problem but the factory corrected it with gracious quality service.

We own a 365saq and love it and have had no problems.Judging by posts they both are decent optios.Just go see what fits you the best,We walked into the 365 and were sold right away.The quad bunk room is enormous.With more cupboards then we could ever need.Love it!

I have had some issues with my Open Range but all were handled by OR and my Dealer and have been very satisfied with my OR. I started full timing in mine last fall and went thru winter with no issues and their heat circulations system does work as that say it does. The JT's as standard also very nice feature. I would buy another OR product. Tows well.

As nremtp143 stated the Sierra and sandpipers are the same unit just different decals and our 365 SAQ is great with family or kids around. The second bath keeps the traffic to the upper bathroom to a minimum and is great for when there are 5 or 6 visiting playing kids from around the campground hanging around our camper. Also since there is a large flat screen back there and a sofa our camper has now become the after dinner dusk hang out which is fine since the kids are occupied happy and close meaning safe. I don't know about the price comparison on an Open Road but the Sandpiper/Sierra's are very economically priced for what you are getting IMO. Happy hunting and good luck. I have the Sandpiper 365SAQ, the sister to the Sierra and we love it. Lots of room and well laid out for those with kids.

Check out Forest Rivers forum, they have plenty to about this unit and its twin the Sandpiper 365SAQ. We looked at one before we bought our 366FL and really liked tbe layout but did not want to loose communal living space to a second bedroom. I am seek quite a few of these in camp grounds.

Awhile back I had a thing for the Sierra Line. I thought they weere decent and well built. At the time they were having issues with front flexing on some of their models. I do believe they eventually resolved those issues. A couple of years later I came across the Open Range line. I was hooked totally.
I like the modern interiors of the Open Range vs. the country decors in most RV's. OR has show to be very innovative and offer lots of standard features.
Open Range models are typically 1000 pounds lighter then comparable models due to the cable driven system they use to move the slides in and out.
Some consumers are leery of cable slides. OR did have issues with the slides initially but at this point all the kinks have been work out and the problems have been resolved.

Most importantly they do stand behind they product. I have had no major issues with my unit. I did upgrade the OEM tires after having a blowout.

The OP mentioned wanting the additional bath room. I have a full and a 1/2 bath. The second bath is nice when we take friends and have a full house however for the most part a family of five can make do with just one bath. The second bath has its own grey and black tanks which means you have to dump 4 tanks. The additional tanks are just extra work.
In hindsight I would have no problem with one bath and eliminate the additional tanks. It's the added tanks and additional dumping that I don't like and not the bathroom per se.
The OR 389 was not available when I purchased although I do not like the outdoor kitchen I do like the larger single bath vs. 11/2 baths.
I consider second baths and outdoor kitchens features I could do without.
In the grand scheme of things,2 toilets,2 microwaves,4 sinks are really a bit much. I would prefer using the space to improve the layout vs. having duplicates of everything. An RV is only so big why have 2 of everything?

I have a OR 399BHS I like it. I am not sure about the models you ask about but I can tell OR stands behind the product! As a matter of fact they are working on a very small issue with me and they really did not have to. Some factors to consider.
1. The dealer and the history of the dealers customer service after the sale.
2. The reputation of the MFG standing behind their product.

I have taken my unit from Texas back to the factory all through the central US and from one side of Texas to the other side and it has held up to the roads we have traveled.
