Fresh Water Holding Tank has a Leak

It's a 102 gal tank that has a baffle type feature that splits it in half. The best I can tell the leak is coming from a bottom corner radius of the tank itself. It must be just a pin hole or a small crack because it is just dripping slowly.

Is there a do-it-yourself patching process? I'm reluctant with such a big tank. I imagine there are some pretty big stresses on the bottom surface of the tank.

The trailer is a Tahoe Transport 26FS.

Thanks.

I had a leak at the edge of the fitting that goes into the water tank I used the JB weld for plastic but it did hold. Long story short I removed the tank and was referred by and RV place where they take theirs for repairs they redid all three fittings for $30 bucks man I couldn't believe it.

Where did you take yours? Mine has a leak too.

  • My freshwater tank had a leak. A trailer repair shop recemmnended a company that deals with plastice and said they could plastic weld it. I was able to drop my tank real easy and took it down there and was willing to pay any price to get this problem fixed. They fixed it in about 20 minutes and even welded a plastic reinforcement part to make it stronger. Best part is they charged me $20.00. Took me 10 minutes to reinstall the tank...Best 20 bucks I ever spent..
  • I ordered a tank repair kit. I'll give it a shot and post some photos if it works out. Thanks.
  • Depending on the location and shape of the hole, you might be able to fix it with Eternabond tape. I fixed a big hole on the top of my fresh water tank with Eternabond a few years ago. It has held pretty well.
  • Anyone tried this?

I thought if it is a pin hole or small crack I could go in with a soldering iron first and then fill the depression with the epoxy before applying the patch kit.

I might also call around to the RV repair places and see what their remedy is.
  • Plastic welding kit, but it has to be the same plastic the tank is made of. If you can easily reach the leak and can empty the tank it should be a fairly easy repair.
