Fridge Fuse?

I was cleaning my fridge igniter and chimney and when pulling the igniter so I think I heard a spark. Didn't see anything so I looked at an inline fuse holder and found a blown 3 amp 250V glass fuse. The inline holder has a red wired wired to a 12v source and other end
runs up and behind the fridge somewhere. After checking several places the NAPA dealer told me it being 250V it was for electronics. Made sense. Went to local Rv dealer and he doesn't have that fuse. Just the standard wire or flat elements for automotive.

I did see several higher amp fuses that have like this one, a twisted type element. Fuse at dealer has "slow acting" on the package. Fuse is 3/4 inch long, about 3/16" in diameter. I know I can put an inline holder to accept a more common fuse but is this the right thing to do? Or an inline holder for a blade type fuse. Only other info. is on the other end and reads "TEB". Fridge is currently on propane and cooling good. Haven't tried electric.

  • I am original owner and it did not come with fans. I added 2 and spliced fuse and on/off switch which I turn on when fridge is on. Fridge works fine

Can you SEE that there are NO OEM Fan?
    T-stat could be bad
Remove both RED wires from t-stat...connect together
With a good fuse and both wires connected Fans should turn on.

Unless 'someone' removed them....otherwise why have the t-stat on condenser fin?

  • Fridge in slide out.....12VDC off of terminal block on backside of fridge running UP-----RED wire with 3A in-line fuse

    FANS

    CU826E....not the fridge model
    Pertains to the Cooling Unit

Model on label inside fridge...typically on liner
  • Fridge is in slide out and had no fans. I added two. Fans are wired separately and has their on in line fuse. The blown fuse wire goes up the back of the fridge and disappears. No way to see where it goes unless I remove the fridge. Dometic CU826E. Has a paper wiring diagram but a lot of it is unreadable and I couldn't interpret anything if it was clear. slow blowing and fast blowing fuses tomorrow. Fridge is now on electric and continues to operate normally. I will be receiving slow blowing and fast blowing fuses tomorrow. I will install a slow blowing because the filament on it appears to be the same as the blown fuse.
  • What would be helpful would be the BRAND/MODEL of Fridge?

Typically those in-line fuses coming off the DC terminal for fridge would be for External FAN(s)

12VDC + goes to a 't-stat' on the condenser fin then to fans
T-stat turns fans on/off based on FIN temp

    But could be something else.......Brand/Model??
