After reading many of the horror stories on hear about CW and service.. consider yourself lucky . . Go buy a new one and be glad it all went well.
On a side note , I knew a guy that when he needed a small part , he would go to a dealer and walk around to see if they had what he needed on the lot... point is - It could have been anyone who took it.
