I'm actually thinking about this same thing. I'm half debating getting a fifth wheel toy hauler and there's no way I could pull it with my 08 2500 Duramax. I've had 2,000 pounds of rock in the bed many times, there's no way I'd travel more then a few miles like that, let alone more than twice that weight with a 40 foot trailer added to it. I have been thinking of adding the 1 ton springs to mine, both front and rear, then buying a small fifth wheel (my tires are already 3,415 pounds per tire so they are good). The one I'm looking at is only 10k dry. Much cheaper than trading in for a new pickup.
