I have both a 5th wheel and a motorhome each weighing total of 22,000 lbs.
The 2004.5 dodge diesel dually averaged 10.5 mpg on a 13,000 mile trip to Alaska with many mountains.
The motorhome is a 2011 Fleetwood Terra with a triton v-10 gasser pulling a Honda Fit and has been averaging 7.5 mpg.
If I had room at home to park a larger motorhome I would have purchased a larger diesel motorhome.
If you don't plan on driving some in the mountains then a gas motorhome should be ok.
