Gas mileage comparison between towing TT and 5'er?

We had started out looking at 25' TTs but then went to 5'ers, A. Because we like to have decent kitchen counter space, especially since we will be living in it for about 6 months while we remodel ...

Gas mileage reality:
Atlanta, GA to Yosemite NP, CA--2,230mi.
At 11.5 MPG fuel used 194 Gal. @ avg. $3.50 = $679
At 9 MPG fuel used 247 Gal. @ avg. $3.50 = $864
Difference in fuel cost--$185.00

As you can see, the difference in fuel costs is not that much. Most travellers will fall somewhere between these two usage rates.
