Wow, ok. Nice response. I was addressing the guy that said all 5th wheels have gennys under the bed. That isn't true.

I can tell you, I would put my "relic" against any of these newer trailers with all of their new gadgets on them.
I see people in my group at the dunes always messing with them and saying "well, that will go back to the dealer".

You tell me what is the majority of the trailers you see in the southwest region..... If you say it isn't Weekend Warriors, you are fooling yourself. They may not be in business anymore, but they pioneered the toyhauler industry.

Our is a 2017. ATC 28 front bedroom. 5.5 onan mounted on the tongue. I was concerned it would be noisy in the bedroom. Its quiet. Excellent enclosure and mounting by ATC.

May last rig was a bumper pullm with side mount 4kw. It was upfront between bed and bath on driver side. It was pretty loud and annoying in the bedroom

My new rig is in the typical 5th wheel up front under bed. I hear a good hum and little vibration. Not annoying but I know it's running. Makes for some good sleep.

I believe if you go back and re-read the OP opening line you’ll see that he is asking for comments on the differences between 5er’s and TTs as it applies to generator noise. It would appear to me that he is asking for specific information to make a buying decision. This is an honest inquiry and deserves an honest and straight forward response so he can shop as an informed buyer.

When I replied there were 6 posting all of which spoke from the 5er side of the discussions. While my unit is more than a decade old it still has a generator that is still made and installed in today’s RV’s. Not knowing how many others would reply (if any) I felt I wanted to provide at least some insight from a TT owner.

Your final sentence shows only your personal opinion and is offensive to me. This forum is made up of a wide cross section of people in all types of situations. Some owners have new units and some have old. Some folks can afford any unit they want while others may be required to shop small or old.

Your elitist or snobbish comments take away from any comment you make.

This website should be self-policing by our members and call out the members that take honest discussions and turn them into personal attacks and brand bashing, as in tires, manufactures, and tow vehicles. We all buy the best unit for us and we should help others that ask for our advise. We provide information and insights while they make the buying decisions, and live with the good or bad choice.

TT or 5er is irrelevant. Noise level will be determined by 1) genny model and 2) quality of install.

That was a good change too, why they would vent it under the bedroom slide was beyond me, but I'm not sure I'd like having it vented under the awning either.

It's called a Gen-turi or the Camco Gen-turi RV Generator Exhaust System. I highly recommend using one.

Our Raptor vented right under the bedroom slide, horrible design and after our alarm sounded was the reason I made my own Gen-turi. I am sure the lawyers had that language inserted in the owners manual to protect themselves rather then properly design the exhaust vent.

The 4000 used in a TT or 5th wheel is definitely louder than a 5500 used in most 5th wheels.

My owners manual says not to sleep with the genny running under the bedroom; fumes and all. We've never camped where we've needed to run it but it is fairly quiet.
